# Switching from AIG? Compare your options with Spot

Spot reads the AIG policies your broker or agent placed, matches each to the AIG company that issued it, and takes the exposures to market.

- The issuing AIG company noted on every policy
- Loss runs and applications listed before the submission goes out
- Your AIG policy runs until the new one binds

## How it works

- **Send the policies and your broker’s name.** Share each AIG policy and declarations page. AIG programs are placed through brokers and agents, so your Spot team also notes who placed yours and which AIG company each policy names.
- **We list what a new insurer will ask for.** Loss runs, the current application and any contract that sets insurance requirements are the usual items. Your Spot team writes the list so you know what to request from your broker.
- **Brokers carry the submission out.** Your Spot team prepares it once, then works with brokers to approach insurers that write your lines, from general liability to directors and officers. Their questions reach you in the shared Slack channel.
- **Weigh wording, then bind.** Proposals come back for you to compare on forms, retentions and endorsements as well as premium. Your Spot team helps you bind your choice and files the new documents with the old.

AIG is the brand for American International Group’s worldwide operations, and its affiliates market a broad US commercial catalogue through distinct products, programs and insurer entities. It lists a North America portal for brokers and agents to reach loss runs, policy documents and applications. Its public pages don’t establish that a business can buy or bind coverage directly.

## Why businesses consider switching

- **Your company changed size.** More revenue, new locations or a funding round can move you out of the program you first bought.
- **A renewal came back different.** Changed retentions, exclusions or premium are a fair prompt to see how others would write the same risk.
- **One line would suit a specialist.** Cyber, management liability or umbrella sometimes sit better with a separate insurer than with your casualty program.
- **You want help beyond the broker’s portal.** Loss runs, certificates and renewal dates are a lot to follow alone, and some businesses add a team to do it with them.

## How to switch without a gap

- **Ask the placing broker for renewal dates and notice rules.** AIG’s public portal is built for brokers and agents, so they hold your documents and the cancellation process.
- **Order loss runs well ahead.** Request them through your broker early, so new insurers see your claims history in the submission.
- **Get the new policy bound and confirmed in writing.** Wait for its effective date in a document you can keep. Your AIG policy stays in force until that arrives.
- **Send the cancellation through the same broker.** Ask for written cancellation and the figure for any return premium.

## Common questions

### How do I find out which AIG company issued my policy?

The declarations page names the insurer, and it can differ by product. Send it to your Spot team, and we match each proposal to the entity, limits and endorsements you hold.

### Can I get my loss runs to share with new insurers?

Ask the broker or agent who placed your policy, since AIG’s portal is built for them. Your Spot team lists the loss runs a submission needs, so you know what to ask your broker for.

### Is Spot part of AIG?

Spot isn’t part of AIG and has no affiliation with it. The name is here only so you can see which insurer this page is about.

### Should I wait until renewal?

Renewal is the simplest moment, because nothing has to be cancelled early. If you want to move sooner, read your policy’s cancellation terms and keep AIG coverage until a replacement is bound.

### Does Spot get paid when I buy a policy?

Spot takes no commissions on premiums. It works with brokers and doesn’t try to take their place.
