# Compare workers’ compensation insurance quotes with Spot

Workers’ comp proposals look alike until you check states, job classifications and payroll, so Spot lines those up before you compare totals.

- States, classifications and payroll checked quote by quote
- Private insurer and state fund options laid out together
- Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

## How it works

- **Share your payroll and the quotes.** Send each proposal with your payroll by type of work and by state, so your Spot team can check that every quote used the same facts.
- **We check the classifications.** Spot compares how each quote classifies your warehouse, field and office work, and whether the states match where your employees actually work.
- **Ask about anything that doesn’t match.** If a quote leaves out a state or groups roles differently, message your Spot team. They take the question to the broker and report back in Slack.
- **Choose and bind.** Select the quote that fits your workforce in every state you operate. Your Spot team helps you bind and keeps the policy on file for audits and renewals.

## What to compare

- **States covered.** Every state where you have employees should appear in the quote. A missing state is a gap, not a saving.
- **Job classifications.** How each kind of work is categorized. Physical work and office work should be classed separately where the rules allow.
- **Payroll by classification.** The payroll figures each quote rated on. A different split changes the premium without changing your risk.
- **Who counts as an employee.** How part-time staff, interns and contractors are treated, since state rules differ.
- **Insurance options in each state.** Whether a quote is from a private insurer or a state fund, and which options your state allows.
- **Benefits the policy provides.** Medical care, wage replacement, disability and death benefits, as set by each state’s rules.
- **Employer’s liability.** The separate protection for lawsuits that fall outside workers’ comp. Compare its limits across quotes.

## Differences to watch for

- **Different payroll assumptions.** A quote built on lower or differently split payroll looks cheaper, and may be corrected at audit.
- **Missing states.** Hiring in a new state can leave a policy short if the quote only lists your home state.
- **Misclassified roles.** Putting office staff in a physical-work class, or the reverse, shifts the premium. Ask each broker to explain every classification.
- **Owners and contractors.** Whether owners are included and how contractors are treated varies by state and quote.

## Common questions

### Why do workers’ comp quotes for the same business differ?

Often because of classifications, payroll splits or states included. Spot shows those inputs so you compare like with like.

### Can I compare quotes from a private insurer and a state fund?

Where your state offers both, yes. Spot lays out the options in one view.

### Does Spot work with my broker on this?

Yes. Your broker keeps their role and Spot takes no commissions on premiums, so you can stay or change brokers.

### Will Spot help me bind?

Your Spot team helps you bind the quote you choose, then keeps the policy and your certificates in one place.
