## How Spot helps

1. **Describe every service you deliver.** Your Spot team writes up your video visits, remote monitoring, technology used in patient care and any in-person work, with clinician licenses, patient locations, existing malpractice and cyber policies and the limits you want to discuss.
2. **Check coverage in every state you see patients.** Spot lists where your clinicians are licensed and where patients receive care, checks the proposed coverage against both, and flags the states whose liability or financial-responsibility rules you need to confirm.
3. **Find out if an outage is covered.** We work with brokers to take your submission to market, then ask how each proposal handles bodily injury from remote care, from care technology and from a system outage, so a virtual-care label isn’t taken as the answer.
4. **Know which policy covers which claim.** Your telehealth, malpractice, cyber, technology E&O and general liability documents stay together. Ask the Spot agent which policy a patient complaint or a data incident falls under, and see the wording behind the answer.

## Who we help

- **Telemedicine providers.** Video visits put the clinician in one place and the patient in another, and the policy has to include both.
- **Remote patient monitoring companies.** A device sending readings from a patient’s home is a different activity from a consultation, and the quote should name it.
- **Practices adding virtual visits.** Your existing malpractice coverage may treat remote care differently from the visits you see in the clinic.
- **Digital health platforms.** A clinical claim, a data breach and a software failure that costs a client money each belong in a different place in your insurance.
- **Clinicians treating patients across state lines.** States can set their own liability-insurance or financial-responsibility rules for clinicians whose patients are located there.

## When to get this coverage

- **You’re launching virtual visits.** Before the first appointment, check whether your current coverage includes remote consultations or whether you need a virtual-care policy.
- **You’re seeing patients in a new state.** Add the state to your list of patient locations, confirm the clinician’s licensing there, and check that the policy follows.
- **You’re adding remote monitoring or new care technology.** A new device or care tool is a new activity. Describe it so the quote names it instead of leaving it to interpretation.
- **A health system or employer contract sets insurance requirements.** Send the agreement before you sign. Spot checks its insurance clause against your policies, flags what’s missing and gets proof of insurance ready.
- **Your renewal is a few months away.** Your services, clinicians and patient locations have likely changed since the last application. Update them and compare the market again.

## Common questions

Also known as telehealth insurance, telemedicine insurance, telehealth malpractice insurance, telemedicine malpractice insurance and virtual care insurance.

### Does cyber insurance cover a claim about patient care?

Don’t expect it to. A patient’s allegation about the care they received and a data or network-security incident need different protection, even on the same platform. Spot compares the two separately.

### Why does the patient’s location matter?

Coverage may depend on where patients receive care as well as where clinicians are licensed. Spot checks both against each quote, including care delivered across state lines.

### Is telehealth insurance only for video visits?

No. Telemedicine can also include remote patient monitoring and other technology used in care. Spot describes each service and checks that the policy names the healthcare and technology activities you perform.

### Will a telehealth policy cover injury from a platform outage?

Some virtual-care products address bodily injury connected with technology or an outage, and some don’t. Spot asks each broker how the proposed policy treats it rather than assuming from the product name.

### Our broker placed our in-person malpractice. Can they handle telehealth malpractice too?

Yes. Spot works with that broker to describe your virtual services and take them to market, and takes no commissions on premiums. If a broker with more digital-health business suits you better, you can switch.
