# Compare tech E&O insurance quotes with Spot

A tech E&O quote only helps if it names the work you do and meets your customer contracts, so Spot checks both across every proposal.

- Each service you sell checked against the quote’s wording
- Customer contract clauses compared with every proposal
- Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

## How it works

- **Tell us everything you deliver.** List the software, hosting, integration and installation work you do, and send a sample customer contract. Every quote gets read against the same description.
- **We compare scope and contract fit.** Spot checks which of your services each quote names, how it treats a missed contractual promise, and what limits and retentions apply.
- **Ask about cyber versus failed work.** Message your Spot team to sort out whether each proposal covers a failed deliverable, a data incident or both, and which policies sit where.
- **Choose and bind.** Pick the quote that matches your services and your customers’ contract terms. Your Spot team helps you bind and keeps proof ready for the next customer.

## What to compare

- **Services named in the quote.** Software development, hosting and installation are different activities. A quote naming one doesn’t by itself cover the others.
- **Contract promises.** How a claim that you failed to meet a contractual promise is treated, including your limitation-of-liability clauses.
- **Each-claim and aggregate limits.** The most per claim and in total, with the retention you pay first.
- **Defense costs.** Whether legal spending reduces the available limit, which leaves less to pay a claim.
- **Claims-made timing.** When a claim must be made and reported, the retroactive date and whether an extended reporting period is offered.
- **Cyber inside or outside.** Whether the proposal includes breach and network-security coverage or leaves it to a separate cyber policy.
- **Subcontractors.** Whether work you outsource is addressed, and whose mistakes the quote reaches.

## Differences to watch for

- **Software covered, hosting not.** A form built for development can leave out the hosted service you actually sell.
- **A data breach is not a failed deliverable.** Tech E&O concerns mistakes in your product or service. Data incidents belong to cyber, so check which quote has what.
- **Contractual liability wording.** Some proposals narrow coverage for promises you made in a contract. Read this beside your customer agreements.
- **Liability caps in your contracts.** If you cap liability with customers, ask how that interacts with the limits you’re buying.

## Common questions

### What is the difference between tech E&O and cyber?

Tech E&O responds to claims that your product or service failed a customer. Cyber addresses incidents like data breaches. Spot shows which each quote includes.

### Can Spot compare quotes against my customer contract?

Yes. Send the master services agreement and Spot checks each proposal against its insurance clause.

### Does Spot replace my broker?

No. Your broker can stay, because Spot takes no commissions on premiums and works with whichever broker you choose.

### Should I buy both tech E&O and cyber?

Many technology companies do. Spot lays out what each proposal covers so you can see the gaps before you decide.
