[Get Started](https://app.spot.insure/signup?coverage=technology-errors-omissions). Spot is not an insurance carrier and takes no commissions on premiums; you can keep your broker or switch.

## How Spot helps

1. **Tell us everything you sell.** Your Spot team writes up what you sell and how it earns revenue, from programming and consulting to hosting, integration and installation, along with your quality-control and security practices, subcontractors and any past incidents.
2. **Read the MSA before you sign it.** Send the customer contract. Spot checks its insurance clause, limitation-of-liability language and any promises about service levels against your policy and tells you what doesn’t line up.
3. **Compare quotes on more than the limit.** We work with brokers to take your submission to market, then compare each proposal’s each-claim and aggregate limits, retention, whether defense costs eat into the limit, the activities named and how a broken contractual promise is treated.
4. **Get a certificate for a customer’s vendor team.** When a customer’s vendor team asks for a certificate showing tech E&O and cyber limits, ask in Slack and your Spot team gets one ready with both policies on it.

## Who we help

- **SaaS companies.** A bad release can take down a customer’s billing or ordering, and their claim is for lost revenue rather than injury or damaged property.
- **Hosting and cloud providers.** Downtime can turn into service-credit demands and damages claims, and your contracts decide how much you’ve promised.
- **Integrators and installers.** When an installation takes a customer’s shop offline, the quote has to name installation and integration work as well as software.
- **Technology consultants and dev shops.** You build and advise on systems you don’t own, so a missed deliverable is the claim you most need to price.
- **Startups closing enterprise deals.** The master services agreement asks for tech E&O at a set limit, often alongside cyber, before the contract is signed.

## When to get this coverage

- **An enterprise customer sends its contract.** Their MSA names the coverage and limits you have to carry. Find the gaps while the contract is still open for comment.
- **You launched hosting or a new service line.** A policy written for software development may not include hosting or installation. Add the new work before a customer relies on it.
- **You’re changing insurers.** Check the retroactive date and claims-made reporting terms so work you delivered under the old policy isn’t left uninsured, and ask about an extended reporting period.
- **You started using subcontractors.** Contractors now write code or install hardware for you. Tell the insurer whose work it is, so the quote describes how you actually deliver.
- **Your business has changed since last year.** Revenue, customers and services have grown since you bought the policy. Update the description and take it to market instead of renewing on old figures.

## Common questions

Also known as technology errors and omissions insurance, tech errors and omissions insurance, technology E&O insurance, technology professional liability insurance and software errors and omissions insurance.

### Is tech E&O the same as cyber insurance?

No. Tech E&O concerns mistakes in your products or services; cyber addresses incidents such as a data breach or network-security failure. Some packages include both, and Spot checks which one each quote actually contains.

### Does tech E&O cover every breach of contract?

Not automatically. Spot brings your customer contracts, licenses and liability caps to the broker and asks how each proposal treats a claim that you missed a contractual promise.

### We’re not a software company. Do we still need tech E&O?

Possibly. Technology consulting, hardware development, systems integration, installation, hosting and cloud services can all belong in a tech E&O quote. Your Spot team matches the work you do to the activities each proposal names.

### How is tech E&O different from professional liability?

Technology errors and omissions insurance is a form of professional liability aimed at technology products and services, which is why some insurers call it technology professional liability. Spot compares the activities each policy insures rather than relying on the label.

### Our broker handles our cyber. Can they place tech E&O too?

Yes. Spot works with your broker to take tech E&O and cyber to market together, and takes no commissions on premiums. If you want a broker who places more technology business, you can switch.
