# Compare product recall insurance quotes with Spot

The word “recall” does not mean every withdrawal cost is paid, so Spot lists the expenses and triggers each quote includes.

- Each recall expense checked individually
- Triggers and qualifying products compared
- Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

## How it works

- **Share your products and the quotes.** Send product identification, production and distribution records, complaints and warranty returns, along with each proposal.
- **We itemize what each quote pays.** Spot lists whether it covers contacting customers, collecting and shipping products, disposal and replacements, and any interruption or reputation costs.
- **Ask what starts coverage.** Your Spot team checks whether a voluntary withdrawal, a government-ordered recall or another trigger starts each quote.
- **Choose and bind.** Pick the quote that pays for what a recall would cost you. Your Spot team helps you bind it and keeps the policy on file.

## What to compare

- **Customer contact.** Whether the cost of notifying customers and distributors is included.
- **Collection and shipping.** Whether the cost of retrieving products and shipping them back is included.
- **Disposal and replacement.** Whether destroying withdrawn products and supplying replacements is included.
- **Interruption or reputation costs.** Some proposals address them and some don’t. Check each one.
- **The recall trigger.** A voluntary withdrawal, a government-ordered recall or another stated event, as the policy defines it.
- **Qualifying products.** Which of your products the quote reaches.
- **Regulator fit.** CPSC guidance covers consumer products in its jurisdiction; foods, drugs, medical devices and motor vehicles have other agencies.
- **Contamination wording.** For food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical contamination risk, whether the quote is a contamination product rather than ordinary recall coverage.

## Differences to watch for

- **“Recall” as a headline.** The word doesn’t mean every cost of a withdrawal is paid. Check each expense.
- **Reporting is a separate duty.** A report to the CPSC doesn’t decide which costs a policy pays, and it doesn’t by itself mean the agency will require a recall.
- **A quote built around a different agency.** Check that the quote fits the regulator that governs your product.
- **Contamination risk.** If it applies to you, ask whether you need a contamination product.

## Common questions

### Does product liability pay for a recall?

Not automatically. That’s why Spot compares recall coverage on its own.

### Do I have to report a hazard to the CPSC?

If you handle consumer products under its jurisdiction, ask your counsel. That duty is separate from insurance.

### Does Spot work with my broker?

Yes. Spot is built to work with brokers and takes no commissions on premiums, so you can keep yours or choose another.

### What do insurers ask about my plans?

How you’d notify distributors, stop sales and offer refunds, repairs or replacements if you withdrew a product.
