# Get general liability insurance quotes with Spot

Send us what your business does once, and your Spot team turns it into a submission brokers can take to market.

- One submission instead of a form for every insurer
- Quotes lined up on limits, insureds and exclusions
- Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

## How it works

- **Tell us about your business.** Share what you do, where you operate, whether you work at customers’ sites and what you sell. Your Spot team asks for the sales or payroll figures insurers rate general liability on.
- **We prepare one submission.** Spot turns your answers, current policy and loss history into a submission, so you don’t retype the same details on every insurer’s application.
- **Brokers take it to market.** We work with brokers to send your submission to insurers that write businesses like yours, and follow up on their questions.
- **Pick a quote you understand.** Each proposal’s limits, aggregates, additional insured terms and exclusions sit side by side, so you can choose on coverage as well as price before you bind.

## What you’ll need

- **What your business does.** A plain description of your operations. Insurers assign a class code from it, and the class code drives the rate.
- **Sales or payroll.** Most general liability is rated on annual gross sales or payroll. Have last year’s figures and this year’s estimate.
- **Locations.** Every address you own, lease or work from, with its square footage if customers visit.
- **Work away from your premises.** Whether you work at customers’ homes or sites, and whether you hire subcontractors to do it.
- **Products you make or sell.** What they are, where they’re sold and whether you design, make, import or resell them.
- **Loss runs.** Your claims history from current and past insurers, usually for the last few years. Spot can request them for you.
- **Contract and lease requirements.** The limits and additional insured wording your landlord or customers ask for, so quotes meet them from the start.

## What affects your price

- **Your class of business.** A roofer and a software company with the same sales pay very different rates, because the risk of injury and damage is different.
- **How much you sell or pay.** More sales or payroll means more exposure, so premium usually rises with it.
- **Limits and deductible.** Higher per-occurrence and aggregate limits cost more. A deductible or self-insured retention can lower the premium.
- **Claims history.** Past claims, especially recent or frequent ones, raise the price or narrow which insurers will quote.
- **Endorsements you need.** Blanket additional insured, waiver of subrogation and primary and non-contributory wording can add premium, and not every insurer offers them.

## Common questions

### Do I have to leave my broker to get quotes through Spot?

No. Spot works alongside brokers and takes no commissions on premiums. Keep your broker and we’ll work with them, or switch if you want a different one.

### Can I get general liability quotes without a current policy?

Yes. If this is your first policy, your Spot team builds the submission from your business details and the requirements in your lease or contracts.

### Should I get a business owner’s policy quote instead?

If you have a small office, shop or equipment to insure, a business owner’s policy can package general liability with property coverage. Spot can take both to market so you can compare.

### What happens after I choose a quote?

Your Spot team helps you bind it with the broker, keeps the policy in your Spot workspace and lets you generate certificates of insurance from it when someone asks.
