# Compare fidelity bond quotes with Spot

Fidelity quotes differ on whose dishonesty they cover and when a loss must be found, so Spot lines up those terms for you.

- Covered people defined the same way across quotes
- Discovery, reporting and replacement terms flagged
- Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

## How it works

- **Say whose money you need to protect.** Share whether the exposure is company funds, client property or benefit-plan assets, plus the bond quotes you have.
- **We define who is covered.** Spot checks how each quote treats employees, temporary workers and contractors, and which property and entities it insures.
- **Ask about timing.** If you’re replacing a bond, your Spot team checks when a loss must happen or be discovered, and when you must report it.
- **Choose and bind.** Select the quote that covers the people and property you actually handle. Your Spot team helps you bind and files the bond with your other coverage.

## What to compare

- **People included.** How the quote defines covered people, including temporary workers or contractors who matter to you.
- **Limit per loss.** The most payable for a single loss, compared with your exposure.
- **Overall limit.** Any total cap across losses in the period, set beside the limit that applies to each loss.
- **Deductible or retention.** What you bear on each loss, which can change what a smaller theft is worth.
- **Property and entities.** Whether the quote reaches company funds, client property or benefit-plan assets, and which entities.
- **Discovery and reporting.** When a loss must happen or be discovered and when you must report it.
- **Direct loss versus consequences.** Whether only the property loss is addressed or also the costs and business losses that follow.

## Differences to watch for

- **Contractors left outside the definition.** Someone handling your money may not count as an employee under the quote.
- **Timing gaps when replacing a bond.** Discovery and reporting terms from two policies can leave a loss between them.
- **Consequential costs.** A bond may pay the stolen property but not the costs that follow.
- **Fidelity is not fiduciary.** Dishonest handling of plan assets and a fiduciary-breach claim are different exposures.

## Common questions

### What is the difference between a fidelity bond and a surety bond?

A fidelity bond addresses dishonest acts by people. A surety bond guarantees an obligation to another party.

### Do I need fiduciary liability too?

Possibly. It addresses alleged breaches of plan duties, not dishonest acts. Spot shows how they differ.

### Does Spot work with my broker?

Yes. Spot is built to work with brokers and takes no commissions on premiums, so you can keep yours or choose another.

### What do insurers ask about?

The entities and locations, employee information, the property at risk, loss history and how you control money and inventory.
