# Compare contract frustration insurance quotes with Spot

Contract frustration quotes cover different stages and events, so Spot lays out what each one protects before delivery, at delivery and at payment.

- Before-delivery, delivery and payment risks separated
- Retained share and waiting periods read the same across quotes
- Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

## How it works

- **Share the contract and the quotes.** Send the contract details, payment terms and each proposal, so your Spot team compares quotes against the transaction you’re actually exposed to.
- **We split the transaction by stage.** Spot checks what each quote covers before delivery, during performance and at payment, and under which conditions.
- **Ask about the buyer.** If a private buyer could refuse the contract, your Spot team checks whether each quote covers that event and what it excludes.
- **Choose and bind.** Pick the quote that protects the stage where you’re most exposed. Your Spot team helps you bind before you commit to the buyer.

## What to compare

- **Risk before delivery.** Which events could prevent you from completing the contract, and whether the quote covers them.
- **Cancellation and non-delivery.** How the quote treats each, since they may be handled differently.
- **Payment failure.** Which failures to pay the quote covers and under what conditions, and how a delayed or disputed payment is treated.
- **Covered government actions.** Which government actions trigger coverage, and whether cancellation, non-delivery and nonpayment are treated differently.
- **Private-buyer events.** Whether a private buyer’s refusal is covered, and the conditions or exclusions that apply.
- **Retained share.** The portion of a loss you keep compared with the share insured.
- **Waiting period and notice deadlines.** How long before a missed payment can be claimed and when you must give notice.
- **Limit and coverage period.** The maximum the quote can pay and the period it runs, set against the size and length of your contract.

## Differences to watch for

- **Payment cover mistaken for performance cover.** A quote that addresses nonpayment may not address risks before you’ve delivered.
- **Disputed or delayed payment.** A waiting period or collection step can delay recovery. Read it with the notice deadline.
- **Trade credit confusion.** If your concern is a customer’s failure to pay, the right comparison may include trade-credit insurance.
- **Retained share.** A larger share you keep changes what the policy is worth to you.

## Common questions

### How is contract frustration different from trade credit?

Contract frustration concerns political disruption to international contracts. Trade credit concerns customer nonpayment. Spot clarifies which each quote addresses.

### What do I need to share to compare quotes?

The contract parties and countries, payment terms, currency, the exposure you want insured and any security backing payment.

### Does Spot work with my broker?

Yes. Spot works with brokers instead of replacing them, and takes no commissions on premiums.

### Is key person insurance the same?

No. It addresses a different event, so don’t treat them as interchangeable.
