## How Spot helps

1. **Tell us about your sites, shifts and crews.** Your Spot team collects each location, shift, work state, machine and crew, plus what each team handles, so the submission describes your operation instead of a generic business.
2. **Compare how each quote covers your sites.** We work with brokers to take your submission to market, then check how each proposal reads installations, completed work, third-party property and equipment failure.
3. **Update policies when sites or duties change.** A new state, a new site or a shift in duties can leave a policy behind. Spot keeps your policies and documents together and flags what needs updating.
4. **Ask in Slack when something changes.** Message your Spot team about a new site or contractor and ask the Spot agent policy questions in the same shared channel.

## Who we help

- **Operations leads at growing companies.** You add sites, hires and equipment faster than the policy gets updated.
- **Teams using temporary or contract labor.** The application has to say who employs and supervises each worker, since that shapes your workers’ compensation and liability questions.
- **Companies servicing equipment at customer sites.** Installation, repair and testing off-premises change the liability and property conversations.
- **Sites with critical machinery.** One failed machine can halt a process, so named equipment and resulting loss terms matter.

- [Tools, equipment and inland marine](https://spot.insure/insurance/inland-marine)

## When to get this coverage

- **You’re starting a shift or crew in another state.** Workers’ compensation depends on states, entities, duties and classifications, and employers’ liability terms are part of the quote.
- **Your people service equipment at customer sites.** Installation, repair and testing off-premises should be described as they happen, along with completed work.
- **A site holds a customer’s or contractor’s property.** Schedule buildings, equipment, stock and third-party property at each location and value.
- **A machine failure could halt a critical process.** Ask which named equipment and failure causes appear in the quote, and what resulting loss terms apply.
- **Tools or samples move between sites and vehicles.** Inland marine terms depend on items, routes, handlers and installation stages. Put them in writing.

## Common questions

Also known as factory insurance, plant insurance, manufacturing plant insurance, production facility insurance and facility insurance.

### What does factory insurance usually include?

Workers’ compensation for the people on the floor, general liability, property for the building and stock, equipment breakdown for production machines and inland marine for equipment that moves between sites. Spot checks how each quote treats lost production time.

### Do shared safety duties decide whose insurance covers temps?

No. Shared safety responsibility isn’t the same as who holds the policy. Spot records who employs and supervises each worker and asks how each form treats them.

### If a production machine fails, does property insurance pay for lost work time?

Not automatically. Equipment breakdown is described separately, and income loss depends on the form. Spot asks each proposal what it includes.

### What site and crew details should we send?

Send your locations and work states, each crew and its duties, equipment lists, how property moves between sites, and any contracts with insurance clauses.

### Our broker knows our sites already. Where does Spot fit?

Spot works alongside that broker and keeps your site, crew and equipment details current between renewals, or helps you switch if you want a different one. Spot isn’t paid commissions on your premiums.
