## How Spot helps

1. **Tell us what you run and what you rent.** Your Spot team records which systems you operate, what customer data you store, which vendors have access and which equipment you own versus a host, so the submission is precise.
2. **Check a customer’s clause against your policies.** Send the master agreement or security questionnaire. Spot compares the insurance language with what you carry and points out where cyber or technology wording falls short.
3. **Compare how each quote handles an outage.** We work with brokers to take your submission to market, then ask what each proposal says about provider incidents, delayed service and equipment failure, since a coverage label alone won’t tell you.
4. **Get a certificate for each new customer.** When a new customer’s onboarding asks for proof of insurance, message your Spot team in Slack. They check the wording the customer requires and get the certificate ready with your broker.

## Who we help

- **Hosting and cloud platforms.** Customers rely on your platform and commitments, so service failures and financial-loss claims are a central question.
- **Network and API providers.** You administer production systems and depend on vendors that touch customer workloads.
- **Colocation and data-center operators.** Servers, power and cooling you own or lease need accurate schedules and an honest line between your equipment and a provider’s.
- **Infrastructure startups with a first production customer.** Onboarding a customer often brings the first insurance clause that asks for cyber and technology E&O.

## When to get this coverage

- **You’re onboarding a production customer.** The customer’s contract may ask for cyber and technology E&O. Check which services and financial-loss allegations the quoted form describes.
- **You’re colocating hardware or leasing data-center space.** Tell the broker which equipment you own and which a hosting provider owns, then check locations, values and off-premises terms.
- **A power or cooling failure could interrupt service.** Equipment breakdown is described separately from property. Ask which named equipment and causes qualify rather than assuming interruption protection.
- **A vendor with access to your workloads has an incident.** Cyber forms differ on provider incidents and dependent systems. Put the question to every insurer.
- **You run a small office beside the service business.** A packaged policy can combine property, liability and interruption, but what’s included and what needs adding varies by quote.

## Common questions

Also known as data center insurance, hosting company insurance, web hosting insurance, cloud provider insurance, managed service provider insurance and MSP insurance.

### What insurance does a hosting or cloud provider need?

Tech E&O for an outage or failed service and cyber for a breach usually come first, then property and equipment breakdown for the hardware you own. Smaller teams sometimes start with a business owner’s policy. Spot compares them against your customer agreements.

### Will cyber insurance pay for a cloud-provider outage?

There’s no single answer. Ask how the form treats a security incident at a provider, a non-security outage and a dependent-system interruption, since triggers and waiting periods can differ for each. Spot puts those cases to every insurer.

### Does a BOP cover outages for an infrastructure company?

No. A packaged policy may include interruption only after a physical loss, and not for every kind of outage. Spot spells out what each package contains.

### What do we send for an infrastructure quote?

Spot needs a description of your services and uptime commitments, the systems and data you handle, the hardware you own and where it sits, your vendors, and any customer agreements with insurance clauses.

### Our broker handles our other policies. Can Spot work with them on cyber and tech E&O?

Yes. Spot works alongside your broker and brings the system and vendor map to the submission, or helps you switch to a broker with more technology markets. Spot’s fee doesn’t come from commissions on your premiums.
