[Get Started](https://app.spot.insure/signup?coverage=technology-errors-omissions&industry=fintech&icp=financial-services). Spot is not an insurance carrier and takes no commissions on premiums; you can keep your broker or switch.

## How Spot helps

1. **Tell us what each entity does.** Your Spot team writes up each legal entity and what it does: software-only services, lending, money movement, custody, data access and any work for a bank or insurer.
2. **Check your bank agreement against your policies.** Send your partner bank agreement. Spot pulls out the duties and coverage terms it asks for and checks them against your current policies.
3. **Compare quotes on errors, incidents and disputes.** After your broker shops the submission, Spot shows how each proposal treats a software error, a security incident, a disputed transfer and an employee claim.
4. **Ask coverage questions in Slack.** When a bank, investor or customer asks about your coverage, ask your Spot team or the Spot agent and see the policy wording behind the answer.

## Who we help

- **Fintechs with a sponsor bank.** The bank’s vendor review asks about your service and contract duties, and the agreement can request coverage terms.
- **Financial software and API companies.** Customers rely on your calculations, integrations and routing, so an error can become their financial loss.
- **Venture-backed fintechs.** A new board seat or financing round brings directors and officers questions, and proposals can carry financial-services exclusions.
- **Fintechs that touch funds.** If staff or systems can start transfers or change payment instructions, crime insurance needs to describe how.

## Coverage

- [Cyber liability](https://spot.insure/insurance/cyber)
- [Crime](https://spot.insure/insurance/crime)
- [Directors and officers](https://spot.insure/insurance/directors-officers)
- [Digital assets](https://spot.insure/insurance/digital-assets)
- [Workers’ compensation](https://spot.insure/insurance/workers-compensation)
- [General liability](https://spot.insure/insurance/general-liability)

## When to get this coverage

- **You’re signing with a sponsor bank.** The agreement can carry insurance requests and duties to disclose. Spot compares them with your coverage before you sign.
- **You’re raising a round or adding outside directors.** Investors and board members ask about directors and officers coverage. Compare the entities, people and exclusions in each proposal.
- **You’re starting to hold or move funds.** Money movement changes your crime and errors and omissions questions, and the application should say so.
- **You’re hiring engineers in another state.** List each work location and role so workers’ compensation is reviewed for every state where you have staff.
- **You’re adding digital asset custody.** Map which assets and private keys you hold for customers and who controls them. Custody and theft protection is a separate question from your cyber and D&O policies.

## Common questions

Also known as fintech company insurance, fintech startup insurance, financial technology insurance and insurance for fintech companies.

### Is fintech insurance just tech E&O and cyber?

Those usually come first, but moving money adds crime, a board and investors add D&O, and holding digital assets adds its own coverage. Workers’ compensation and general liability follow your team and office. Spot matches each to your services.

### Does being a fintech mean we must buy a particular policy?

No. The label doesn’t decide it. Check which rules apply to your activity and jurisdiction, then any conditions in your signed bank or customer contracts.

### What do we send for a fintech quote?

Send an operations map for each entity, plus the contracts that define your work, data handling, money movement and partner obligations. Note who can access or move customer funds.

### Does our bank set the insurance limits we need?

Your agreement may request coverage terms, and the bank’s vendor review shapes what you disclose. Spot reads the agreement and checks each request against your policies.

### Can the broker who placed our D&O handle the rest?

Yes. Spot works alongside that broker on tech E&O, cyber and crime as well, and takes no commissions on premiums. If they don’t place financial-services risks, you can switch to a broker who does.
