We get quotes that fit the client briefs, gear and audience data you handle, and send certificates when a client or venue asks.

- Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

[Get Started](https://app.spot.insure/signup?coverage=professional-errors-omissions&industry=content&icp=media-entertainment). Spot is not an insurance carrier and takes no commissions on premiums; you can keep your broker or switch.

## How Spot helps

1. **Describe the services clients pay for.** Your Spot team writes up what you produce, publish, distribute or measure, who creates it, and whether users can post to your service, so the submission reflects your real role.
2. **Check the client contract’s insurance clause.** Send the client contract. Spot flags the insurance clause, indemnity and rights warranties and checks the limits and named insured against your policies.
3. **Compare errors and omissions with general liability.** Once the submission has been to market, Spot shows which proposals address missed deliverables and editorial services, and which only cover injury or damage at a shoot.
4. **Get certificates for venues and clients.** When a location, venue or client wants a certificate before the shoot, post the request in Slack with the dates and address. Your Spot team checks their wording against your policies and works with your broker to get it ready.

## Who we help

- **Production studios.** Shoots happen on rented sets and client sites with gear that’s often borrowed or hired, and venues often want proof of insurance first.
- **Agencies running branded content.** Clients pay you to deliver against a brief and deadline, and their contracts carry indemnities and insurance requirements.
- **Publishers.** You commission writers, photographers and editors, and the rights you hold depend on what those agreements actually say.
- **Creator platforms.** Users upload material and you store subscriber, payment and audience data that a cyber quote needs to account for.

## Coverage

- [Professional errors and omissions (E&O)](https://spot.insure/insurance/professional-errors-omissions)
- [Media liability](https://spot.insure/insurance/media)
- [Tools, equipment and inland marine](https://spot.insure/insurance/inland-marine)
- [General liability](https://spot.insure/insurance/general-liability)
- [Commercial property](https://spot.insure/insurance/commercial-property)
- [Cyber liability](https://spot.insure/insurance/cyber)

## When to get this coverage

- **A new client contract has an insurance clause.** Compare the required limits, indemnity and approval duties with your quote before you accept the work.
- **You’re taking rented gear on location.** List what you own, rent and borrow, with values and dates away from the studio, so the inland marine quote covers each stage.
- **You’ve signed for a bigger studio.** Editing equipment, archives, improvements and client property at the new address belong on the property schedule.
- **Your platform now accepts user uploads.** Document your platform role and notice process, and revisit cyber and professional terms with the new feature in mind.

## Common questions

Also known as media company insurance, publisher insurance, publishing company insurance, production company insurance, content studio insurance, content creator insurance and digital media insurance.

### What does media company insurance usually include?

Errors and omissions with media liability for what you publish, inland marine for cameras and rented gear, general liability and property, and cyber for subscriber data. Spot compares them against the contracts and briefs you sign.

### Does paying a freelancer give us the copyright?

Not automatically. The Copyright Office advises documenting ownership in writing. Keep those agreements, since your broker and any insurer will ask what rights you hold.

### Will general liability cover a campaign that misses its results?

Don’t assume so. General liability addresses injury and property damage. Spot asks brokers whether an errors and omissions proposal covers the services and deliverables in your contracts.

### Is rented camera gear covered on a shoot?

Only if the quote addresses rented and borrowed equipment at that location and on those dates. Spot checks where and when each proposal’s protection starts and ends.

### Our broker mostly handles our office policies. Can they place media coverage too?

They may. Spot takes no commissions on premiums and works with whichever broker you choose. A broker who rarely places media or production risks can still keep your office policies while another handles the media side, or you can switch altogether.
