# Spot for Agriculture Companies

Get quotes from agriculture insurance providers with Spot.

We get quotes for your field equipment, vehicles and crews, kept apart from the grower’s crop, and help you buy before the next field trial.

- Field trials quoted on your exposures, not the grower’s
- Equipment scheduled for the farm, the road and the shop
- Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

[Get Started](https://app.spot.insure/signup?coverage=product-liability&industry=agriculture&icp=agriculture). Spot is not an insurance carrier and takes no commissions on premiums; you can keep your broker or switch.

## How Spot helps

1. **Tell us what you do on farms.** Your Spot team records whether you demonstrate equipment, apply an input, collect data or run a grower’s machinery, and who owns each device and crop involved, so brokers can tell your property from the grower’s.
2. **Check the trial agreement.** Send the trial statement of work. Spot reads what damage it assigns to you and checks it against your liability and property terms before the first visit.
3. **Compare quotes for equipment, vehicles and products.** We work with brokers to take your submission to market and line up fixed-site property, equipment in transit, vehicles and products terms, so a gap between them shows up before harvest.
4. **Ask questions in Slack between farm visits.** Ask the Spot agent whether a device left at a farm is listed, or message your Spot team in Slack when a grower wants proof of insurance and they’ll get the certificate ready.

## Who we help

- **Agtech hardware companies.** Sensors, robots and instruments leave your workshop for trials and installations on farms.
- **Input and product makers.** What you sell or apply can cause injury or damage after delivery, and growers ask how you’d respond.
- **Field service providers.** Your crews drive to farms, operate equipment and work seasonal schedules, so vehicles, duties and seasonal hires all belong in the quote.
- **Farm data and software teams.** You collect data on a grower’s land and need to keep their crop risk separate from your own.

- [Workers’ compensation](https://spot.insure/insurance/workers-compensation)

## When to get this coverage

- **A field trial starts next month.** Identify who controls the activity, who owns the equipment and crop, and what the agreement makes you responsible for.
- **You’re hiring seasonal crews.** Give the broker duties, seasons, states and vehicle use. Farm-labor rules can carry exceptions, so confirm how each arrangement is treated.
- **Equipment is staying on a farm.** Fixed-site property, property in transit and customer-owned property are separate questions. Check values and deductibles for each.
- **Your team drives between farms.** List owned, hired and employee vehicles, the routes they run and the tools or samples they carry.
- **You’re leasing a lab or storage site.** Schedule your site interest, installed equipment, portable devices and stock separately from anything a grower owns.

## Common questions

Also known as agricultural insurance, agribusiness insurance, agtech insurance, agricultural business insurance and farm service business insurance.

### What does agricultural business insurance usually include?

For agtech and farm-service companies it’s usually several policies: product liability, property, inland marine for equipment in the field, commercial auto and workers’ compensation. Spot compares them together so the pieces fit.

### Does our business policy insure the grower’s crop?

Don’t assume it does. Your commercial policy isn’t crop insurance and doesn’t replace federal crop coverage, which depends on the crop, county, timing and cause.

### What should we ask about workers’ compensation in California?

Start with the actual worker relationship. California has statutory exceptions tied to farm-labor status, so Spot puts each worker’s duties, season and supervisor in front of the broker before anyone treats coverage as required or optional.

### Are our sensors covered while they’re out in a field?

Only if a form lists them for that location or trip. Your Spot team checks inland marine schedules for field use, loading and installation.

### Does product liability cover crop damage from our product?

It may address property damage, but crop damage, efficacy, recall and warranty costs need their own questions. We ask each broker to answer them in writing.

### We buy through a local farm agent. Can we keep them?

Yes. Spot works alongside your agent or broker, preparing the field-trial and equipment details and comparing what comes back, and takes no commissions on premiums. If you want a broker who places more agtech business, Spot can help you switch.
