# What Insurance Covers False Advertising Claims?

General liability or media liability may cover certain advertising claims, but standard exclusions can bar false statements about product quality, performance, or price.

A complaint calling an ad misleading does not by itself establish coverage. The NAIC study discusses false or deceptive advertising under general liability Coverage B and describes exclusions involving product quality or performance statements and incorrect price descriptions; media liability may address some content exposures.

Ask which enumerated offense the complaint would need to allege and whether your product claims, pricing, and advertising channels are excluded. Compare the actual policy wording, since the study analyzes standard-form language rather than deciding your insurer’s coverage.
