A crime policy’s computer-fraud coverage may pay direct property loss caused by a fraudulent computer transfer; it may not cover an employee tricked into sending money. A Travelers specimen defines computer fraud around computer use that fraudulently causes money, securities, or other property to move from business or bank premises to an outside person or place. The specimen covers direct loss under that agreement.

An employee who follows a fake payment instruction may trigger a separate social-engineering grant or exclusion. Ask the insurer to show both definitions and confirm the limit for each; do not treat one as a substitute for the other.
