# What Insurance Covers Inventory In Transit?

Cargo or transit coverage may insure inventory while it ships; commercial property may cover it at a warehouse or store.

Inventory can move through several stages: storage, loading, transit, and delivery. A warehouse property limit or carrier-liability policy does not automatically insure your goods throughout that route.

Check who owns the goods, when risk transfers, routes and carriers, loading and unloading, storage periods, and per-shipment limits. Coordinate cargo and property terms around handoffs.
