# What Doesn’t Intellectual Property Insurance Cover?

Possibly, if the alleged IP claim falls within the E&O grant for your professional services; E&O does not automatically cover all IP disputes.

An E&O policy may defend a client’s covered professional-services claim, but that does not mean it will fund a lawsuit to enforce your rights.

Check reporting deadlines, retroactive date, defense costs, exclusions, and any carve-back. Ask the insurer to address the specific service and allegation.
