# Does IP Insurance Cover Copyright Infringement?

Sometimes. IP insurance can cover copyright claims, but defense and enforcement may be separate choices.

IP insurance can cover certain copyright claims if the policy includes the works and type of dispute involved. Defending an accusation that you copied a work and enforcing your own copyright may be separate options.

List the works, software, and licenses at issue. Check defense or enforcement coverage, legal expenses, settlements, retention, limits, and any prior-dispute exclusion.
