# Why Is It Called Inland Marine Insurance?

It is called inland marine to distinguish specialized land-transit and movable-property coverage from ocean marine; it is not boat insurance.

It does not mean ordinary boat insurance; waterborne transportation is generally handled under ocean-marine coverage.

If your property moves by truck and ship, check both policies for each leg and handoff. Review the covered goods, route, loading, unloading, and territory.
