# Does General Liability Cover Theft?

CGL does not cover your own stolen money, inventory, or equipment; crime and commercial property policies address different theft losses.

A robbery, employee embezzlement, forged check, and stolen inventory can fall under different crime or property-policy grants.

Identify what was taken, who owned it, and where it was located. Check covered property, theft conditions, safeguards, valuation, deductible, and reporting deadlines; ask about inland marine for property in transit.
