# Does General Liability Cover Lawsuits?

Often, when a suit alleges covered bodily injury, property damage, or a defined advertising offense; a lawsuit alone does not trigger CGL.

A lawsuit over invoices, professional advice, employment practices, auto accidents, or cyber events may fall outside that coverage.

Send suit papers to the insurer promptly and preserve relevant records. Ask which policy applies, then check its defense terms, limits, exclusions, and endorsements.
