# Does General Liability Cover Construction Defects?

Not for the cost to repair defective work itself; CGL may cover a separate covered injury or damage to other property.

The ISO form also excludes much damage to completed work, with a limited subcontractor exception. A separate claim for bodily injury or damage to other property may be evaluated under the policy.

Identify what was damaged, who performed the work, and when it was completed. Check the completed-operations wording, subcontractor provisions, endorsements, and contract repair obligations; ask the insurer to assess the actual allegations.
