# Does Cyber Insurance Cover AI?

There is no universal rule that AI use is covered; an AI-related loss must fit a policy’s covered event and avoid its exclusions.

An AI incident might involve a data breach, outage, or professional error, each of which can trigger a different policy section. Identify where you use AI and what data or services it touches when describing your risk.

Check definitions of computer system, security event, protected information, and technology services. Review exclusions for intellectual-property claims, contractual guarantees, and voluntary disclosure. Ask whether an AI provider is a covered vendor and whether your own development or deployment activities trigger E&O terms. Describe actual AI use and data flows accurately in underwriting materials; do not assume a general cyber grant expressly names AI.
