Sometimes. Commercial auto may cover employees driving company vehicles, while hired and non-owned coverage may protect the business’s liability when staff use personal cars for work. HNOA does not repair an employee’s car. That does not settle coverage for an employee’s personally owned car. An illustrative ISO form excludes an employee using their own or a household member’s auto from one permissive-user provision, while non-owned auto coverage may address the company’s liability when staff drive personal cars for work.

These are different arrangements: a scheduled company auto can include liability and optional physical damage, while HNOA is generally liability coverage for the business and does not repair the employee’s car. Hiscox describes its non-owned auto product as applying to business use and excluding physical damage; that is its product wording, not a promise about all HNOA forms.

Check the declarations and endorsements for owned and non-owned auto coverage, named insureds, covered drivers, business-use conditions, and physical-damage options. Ask whether commuting, regular use, delivery, or household vehicles are treated differently, and have employees confirm their own insurer permits the work use.
