# Can You Buy Three-Month Builders Risk Insurance?

California’s guide describes a one-year minimum, while US Assure’s remodeling program offers six-, nine-, or twelve-month terms; request a written three-month quote and compare longer options. The CDI guide states a one-year minimum in its California discussion of builders risk added to a policy. US Assure’s remodeling application tips specify six-, nine-, or twelve-month options for its program. Those examples are different, so ask about the exact term offered for your state and work type.

A short term also needs to account for project delays and coverage transition. A specimen ISO form lists expiration as one point when coverage can cease, and US Assure warns that renewal is not automatic within its program.

Request a three-month quote and compare it with the next longer available term. Check any minimum premium, cancellation charge, extension approval, effective and expiration times, and what happens if the project is completed, accepted, or occupied before the policy expires.
