# Does Builders Risk Cover Testing?

Sometimes, under a limited testing provision. The cited ISO form covers certain loss during testing at the jobsite, subject to a cap; it does not establish coverage for every test or startup. It is subject to a stated limit and does not establish blanket coverage for every testing operation. Clarify whether cold tests, hot tests, pressure tests, commissioning, or startup are included, and when each begins and ends. Check the equipment definition, schedule, sublimit, and exclusions for design or workmanship defects. Oregon’s installation-floater guidance also treats installation and testing as locations or stages to arrange deliberately. Testing damage to the equipment itself and resulting damage to other project property can be treated differently, and a separate equipment breakdown endorsement may change the ISO specimen’s testing provision. Submit the written test protocol and schedule before the first test. Check the dollar cap, definition of breakdown, location restriction, and whether the policy allows repeated tests or only an identified testing period.
