# Review a renewal that came back higher

Send us the renewal, and your Spot team compares it with your expiring policy, asks what changed and works with brokers to see what else the market offers.

- The renewal compared line by line with your expiring policy
- Other insurers quoted on the same terms
- Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

## How it works

- **Send us the renewal and the expiring policy.** Upload both, with the renewal date. Your Spot team needs the old terms to see what changed besides the price.
- **See what changed.** We compare limits, deductibles, exclusions and the payroll, sales or values the premium is based on, and ask the broker which change drove the increase.
- **Take it to other insurers.** If it makes sense, we work with your broker or one we introduce to quote other insurers on comparable terms before the renewal is due.
- **Decide with everything in view.** Choose between the renewal and any alternatives on coverage as well as price, and bind before the expiring policy ends.

Your renewal came back noticeably higher than last year, and it’s due before you have time to shop it.

## Documents to have ready

- **The renewal offer.** The renewal quote or proposal, with all its forms and endorsements.
- **The expiring policy.** Declarations, forms and endorsements from the policy that’s ending.
- **Current exposure figures.** Up-to-date sales, payroll, property values, vehicles or headcount, whichever the line is priced on.
- **Loss runs.** Your claims history, so you know whether a claim is part of the increase. Spot can request them.

## Coverage

- [General liability](https://spot.insure/insurance/general-liability/quotes): If your sales or payroll grew, the exposure the premium is based on grew with it. Check the figures the renewal uses.
- [Commercial property](https://spot.insure/insurance/commercial-property/quotes): Updated building and contents values, a different deductible or a coinsurance condition can all change the price and what a claim pays.
- [Workers’ compensation](https://spot.insure/insurance/workers-compensation/quotes): Payroll and job classifications set the premium, so check that each kind of work is classified correctly at renewal.
- [Cyber liability](https://spot.insure/insurance/cyber/quotes): A renewal can change sublimits or retentions while the headline limit stays the same, so compare what you’d pay first after an incident.
- [Directors and officers](https://spot.insure/insurance/directors-officers/quotes): Review exclusions and other changes from the expiring policy, because the D&O label doesn’t show what’s still covered.

## Common questions

### Will Spot get my premium back down?

Spot doesn’t set prices and can’t promise a lower one. We show you why the renewal changed, and what other insurers offer on comparable terms, so you decide with the facts.

### Is it too late to shop my renewal?

Send it as soon as you have it. Your Spot team tells you what can be done before the renewal date, and you keep your current coverage until a new policy binds.

### Do I have to leave my broker to compare?

No. Your broker can stay and work with us on the comparison, or you can switch to one we introduce. Spot earns no commissions on premiums.

### Should I raise my deductible to lower the price?

It can lower the premium, but you pay more of each claim yourself. Your Spot team shows you both sides so you can decide what you can carry.
