# Pass the insurance section of your customer’s security review

When an enterprise customer’s questionnaire asks about cyber and tech E&O, your Spot team checks your coverage against it and gets quotes for what’s missing.

- Questionnaire answers drawn from your actual policies
- Cyber and tech E&O quoted to the customer’s requirements
- Keep your broker or switch, with no commissions on premiums

## How it works

- **Send us the questionnaire.** Upload the security questionnaire, the MSA’s insurance clause and any vendor requirements document. Tell us when procurement needs answers.
- **We check your coverage against it.** Your Spot team answers the insurance questions from your policies and flags limits, insureds or coverage the customer wants that you don’t have.
- **Get quotes for the gaps.** We work with brokers to quote cyber and tech E&O, using the same security controls you describe in the questionnaire.
- **Send procurement the proof.** Generate a certificate in the Spot app for the customer’s legal entity, and attach it to your questionnaire response.

An enterprise customer’s security questionnaire asks for your cyber and tech E&O limits, and procurement won’t move until you answer.

## Documents to have ready

- **The security questionnaire.** The full questionnaire, or at least its insurance and vendor-risk sections.
- **The customer’s contract.** The MSA or data processing agreement and its insurance and liability clauses.
- **Your security controls.** Backups, access controls, software updates, staff training, your incident-response plan and any SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report.
- **Your current cyber and E&O policies.** Declarations and forms, so we can check limits, retentions and whether the policy is claims-made.

## Coverage

- [Cyber liability](https://spot.insure/insurance/cyber/quotes): Enterprise customers ask about it because it can pay breach response costs and claims after an incident, including incidents involving data you hold for them.
- [Technology errors and omissions (E&O)](https://spot.insure/insurance/technology-errors-omissions/quotes): It answers claims that your software or service failed and cost the customer money, and the policy has to name each service you provide.
- [General liability](https://spot.insure/insurance/general-liability/quotes): Procurement checklists often include it alongside cyber and E&O, even for software companies.
- [Umbrella and excess liability](https://spot.insure/insurance/umbrella-excess/quotes): If the customer asks for higher liability limits than your primary policies, an extra layer can sit above them.

## Common questions

### Is cyber insurance the same as tech E&O?

No. Tech E&O covers mistakes in your products or services, and cyber covers incidents such as a breach or network-security failure. Some policies combine them, so check which you have.

### The questionnaire asks about our security controls. Do insurers ask the same?

Often, yes. Cyber insurers ask about backups, access controls, updates, training and incident response, so your Spot team keeps your answers consistent across both.

### Do we need SOC 2 to get cyber insurance?

It isn’t always required, but insurers will ask how you protect systems and data. A report helps you answer, and your Spot team describes your controls either way.

### Can we keep our broker?

Yes. Spot works alongside brokers and takes no commissions on premiums, or we can introduce a broker who places technology companies.
