# Do I Need Insurance for Amazon Flex in California?

Yes. Amazon Flex requires your own auto insurance. Confirm that your policy permits paid package deliveries. Amazon describes additional no-cost auto cover during active deliveries, while California injury benefits and the health subsidy have separate rules and conditions.

Research checked: 2026-10-27. Amounts are USD in the U.S. and CAD in Canada.

## Insurance Before Your First Amazon Flex Block

### Keep Your Own Insurance and Confirm Delivery Use

Yes. Amazon's current U.S. FAQ requires the insurance needed for package deliveries in the driver's area, in addition to its supplementary commercial program. Its onboarding requirements also call for personal auto insurance meeting local requirements. Tell your insurer that you use the car for paid Amazon Flex deliveries, including station travel, pickups, multiple stops, returns and any other apps. Ask which policy or endorsement permits the actual activity and protects the car during each interval. Approval to create an Amazon account does not establish that your own insurer accepted delivery use. Keep the insurer's written response with the current declarations, endorsements, named drivers and vehicle details, and repeat the check when the car, drivers or work change.

Evidence: Company-reported. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### California’s Ordinary Minimum Is a Separate Requirement

Vehicle Code section 16056(a)(2) sets the ordinary minimum at $30,000 for one person's bodily injury or death, $60,000 for multiple people in one accident and $15,000 for property damage for policies issued or renewed from January 1, 2025. DMV confirms these amounts on its current insurance page. Read the effective dates because the statute also contains an earlier paragraph and a future increase. These are ordinary financial-responsibility amounts, not an Amazon repair benefit or a recommendation that the minimum protects all your assets. A personal policy with a high liability limit can still have an exclusion relevant to paid delivery. Confirm both the amount of protection and the permitted use.

### Identify the Insured Car, Driver and Use

Insurance Code section 11580.1 addresses the automobile policy's described vehicles, covered persons, purposes of use and permitted exclusions. It does not make every private policy suitable for every courier arrangement. Ask your insurer about the actual vehicle, everyone who might drive it and whether coverage continues while waiting for a block or returning a package. A lender's requirement to maintain comprehensive and collision does not establish permission to deliver for pay. If an endorsement is offered, read what activity and periods it adds and what benefits remain excluded. Keep the application and disclosure of delivery work so a later claim can be assessed against the arrangement you actually bought.

### What This Public-source Review Establishes

Amazon's live FAQ, safety page and California benefits page are the company's published descriptions. They establish what Amazon says and are read here alongside current California law; they are not authenticated insurance contracts. Obtain the current California Amazon Flex auto policy and endorsements: the public summaries do not establish its insurer, effective dates, complete periods, priority, repair limit or deductible. Obtain the current occupational policy and accepted delivery agreement: the California benefits page is a summary, and a benefit-time definition does not establish every auto-insurance period. The missing wording does not establish that cover is absent. It means a deductible, insured person, activity boundary or claim condition should not be filled in from a broker's article, an old online agreement or a policy from another country. This guide and checker therefore retain those questions even when a statutory requirement or a company-published benefit can be described precisely.

Evidence: Not publicly disclosed. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. ## Amazon’s Stated Auto Cover and California Delivery Liability

### Amazon Describes Additional No-cost Auto Cover

Amazon's safety page says that a delivery partner maintaining personal auto insurance is protected by its commercial auto program while actively driving and delivering. It describes $1 million in auto liability, uninsured or underinsured motorist protection, and contingent comprehensive and collision. Its FAQ says the program is supplied without an additional charge in states other than New York. California is therefore within the stated national program, but the summary does not identify a current California auto carrier, policy number or effective term. The $1 million headline concerns auto liability. It is not a combined pot for your car, medical care and missed earnings, and it does not resolve all policy conditions.

Evidence: Company-reported. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### Read the California DNC Rule With Its Condition

Business and Professions Code section 7455(f)(1) requires a delivery network company to maintain at least $1 million per occurrence in auto liability for harm to third parties caused by an app-based driver's automobile during engaged time, in the specified circumstance where the automobile is not otherwise covered by a policy complying with Insurance Code section 11580.1(b). Keep that otherwise-covered condition in the explanation. The legal requirement supports a local delivery-liability discussion but does not identify Amazon's actual carrier, policy priority or first-dollar payment. Amazon's independently stated $1 million auto limit is a company description. Neither source establishes that the same amount applies to every moment a driver has the app installed or a block reserved.

### A Reserved Block Does Not Prove Every Minute Is Insured

The FAQ limits its auto description to an Amazon Flex delivery partner actively delivering during a delivery block. The safety page uses an active driving-and-delivering description. Neither public page supplies the complete auto policy's definitions for leaving home, waiting before check-in, loading, a mid-route pause, returning items or driving home. Save the block, check-in, pickup, delivery and return records and ask the auto insurer which covered activity applies at the precise accident time. A reserved block extending from one time to another is useful evidence, but it does not by itself establish continuous cover throughout that interval. Do not substitute the California earnings-time calculation below for missing auto-policy wording.

Evidence: Company-reported. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### Check the Legal Definition Before Assuming All Routes Are Identical

Section 7463 defines the delivery network company, courier, delivery service and engaged time used by the Act. The delivery-service definition has its own distance and order-count conditions: a customer location within 50 miles of pickup and no more than 12 distinct customer orders in a delivery request. An Amazon block can contain many packages, but a package count alone does not establish how the relevant delivery requests are legally characterized. This review does not resolve every logistics model from a national FAQ. Keep the actual offers, requests and itinerary, and obtain advice where a route or relationship falls outside the described statutory category. Amazon's stated program and a statutory classification remain separate questions.

### Confirm Uninsured Protection and Other Payments Separately

Both Amazon pages list uninsured or underinsured motorist protection without giving its current California amount or all covered-person and coordination terms. Do not assume its limit equals the liability headline. Insurance Code section 11580.2 has separate definitions, coverage choices and coordination rules; section 7455(e) also addresses how required occupational benefits are treated for specified auto-insurance payments. A crash caused by an uninsured driver could raise injury, own-car damage and occupational-benefit questions under different provisions. Ask which benefit is being claimed, which insurer handles it, what other benefits are considered and whether the actual policy provides property protection. Keep the calculation and applicable wording rather than adding every advertised limit together.

## Car Repairs, Passengers and Vehicle Arrangements

### Contingent Repairs Require the Actual Conditions

Amazon lists contingent comprehensive and collision, but the reviewed public U.S. pages do not disclose the complete California repair limit, deductible, valuation basis, deductible interaction or prerequisites for this benefit. Do not copy a commonly repeated dollar deductible into a current California answer without an official applicable source. Ask whether your own policy must include both comprehensive and collision, whether a personal insurer's denial is required, who reports first and which eligible vehicle and driver must be involved. Entering yes for personal comprehensive and collision in the checker does not establish that Amazon's contingency was satisfied. Entering no does not justify inventing the missing contract's exact exclusion.

Evidence: Not publicly disclosed. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### Plan for the Deductible, Downtime and Loan Balance

CDI's auto guide distinguishes comprehensive from collision and explains deductibles, rental reimbursement and loan-gap protection. Those are separate decisions for a delivery driver whose car produces income. Confirm the cover for theft, a single-car collision, an uninsured driver's damage, towing and a replacement vehicle permitted to do delivery work. Ask what happens if the insured value is below the loan balance or repairs stop you working. Amazon's public auto description does not establish an automatic rental, gap benefit or lost-business-income payment. California occupational disability benefits address covered personal injury under separate conditions, so a car being unavailable without an insured injury should not be treated as enough to trigger them.

### The Delivery Partner Must Remain the Driver

Amazon's FAQ says that if someone other than the Amazon Flex delivery partner drives at the accident time, the claim for resulting losses will be denied under the stated rule. Its passenger rules also prohibit passengers from driving while the partner delivers. Do not assume that a spouse's permission, listing another driver on your personal policy or sharing the physical phone extends Amazon's stated cover. If illness, fatigue or another problem makes you unable to continue safely, contact the app's support rather than treating a substitute driver as automatically insured. Your personal insurer and the actual Amazon policy still need to assess the facts and applicable wording.

Evidence: Company-reported. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### Permission to Bring a Passenger Is Not Insurance Proof

The FAQ permits passengers subject to restrictions, including sufficient room for packages, limits at pickup sites and no delivery assistance or substitute driving. The safety page separately states that passengers are not covered in its auto-insurance description. That short parenthetical does not identify every coverage, claimant status or legal reason; obtain the actual policy before turning it into a conclusion about every injured passenger's rights. A person being allowed in the car and a person being insured for a particular benefit are different issues. Ask the relevant insurers about the passenger exposure and keep the trip facts. Do not describe Amazon's occupational medical benefit for the delivery partner as a passenger accident plan.

Evidence: Company-reported. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### Confirm Vehicle Eligibility and Borrowed or Rented Use

The current U.S. FAQ requires a four-door midsize sedan or larger eligible vehicle and gives SUVs, vans and trucks with covered beds as examples. It excludes smaller cars, open-bed trucks, motorcycles, motorized bicycles and motorized scooters from that stated program. The same FAQ tells anyone renting or borrowing a car to ensure the required coverage. An owner's consent or rental reservation does not establish delivery-use permission, insured-driver status or contingent repair protection. Check the vehicle, agreement and insurance together before using a replacement. This guide's checker snapshot is limited to an ordinary owned eligible car; it withholds that snapshot for borrowed, rented or non-car inputs rather than extending these findings to them.

Evidence: Company-reported. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### Keep Passenger Work and Other Delivery Apps Separate

Tell your insurer about every app and each type of work, and preserve which service was accepted at the accident time. The California passenger TNC provisions in Public Utilities Code sections 5430–5435 address a different category from the DNC liability provision in section 7455(f)(1). Passenger-trip limits, physical-damage descriptions and a rideshare endorsement should not be assumed to establish Amazon package-delivery protection. Likewise, an Amazon delivery block does not authenticate another company's policy. Where multiple apps are open, identify the actual request, driving purpose and any personal activity. The checker can show separately reviewed app records, but it does not combine their limits, resolve insurer priority or decide which insurer owes an individual loss.

## Scheduled Blocks, Instant Offers and Package Returns

### Amazon’s Scheduled-block Benefit Clock Starts at Check-in

The California benefits page says engaged time for a prescheduled block starts when the partner checks in at the delivery station. If Amazon delays check-in, it says the clock instead begins at the scheduled block start. It ends at the last delivery or a station return for undeliverable packages when the partner chooses to return at the end of the block. Engaged miles follow engaged time. That is Amazon's published benefits calculation, not authenticated auto-policy wording. Save the original reservation, arrival and check-in records, any delay message, the final delivery and the return record. A calendar booking made in advance does not establish that the benefits clock started when the booking was accepted.

Evidence: Company-reported. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### Instant Offers Have a Different Published Starting Point

For instant offers, Amazon's California page starts the benefit calculation at offer acceptance and includes direct travel to the delivery station. It describes the ending point as the last completed delivery or the immediate station return for undeliverable packages. The page excludes time not actively spent delivering. Section 7463's legal engaged-time definition separately refers to acceptance and completion of a delivery request, with canceled-request, abandonment and specified fraud-prevention qualifications. Retain both the offer and the actual request records. These sources identify questions for a disputed calculation; they do not establish that every scheduled-block reservation, detour or canceled trip is insured. Ask which definition governs the specific earnings, injury or auto claim.

Evidence: Company-reported. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### A Package-return Duty Does Not Establish Overnight Auto Cover

Amazon's current FAQ describes scanning and returning undelivered packages through the app, generally by 10 a.m. the next day, with named-site exceptions requiring an earlier return. Its published deactivation policy, effective January 1, 2025, also includes next-day returns among program standards. Those are operational obligations. The California benefits page expressly discusses choosing to return at the end of the block; it does not authenticate auto or occupational cover for storing packages overnight, personal travel in between or a separate next-day return. Follow the actual app instructions, preserve the return scan and ask the insurer about that particular journey. A required return and a covered accident period should not be treated as the same fact.

Evidence: Company-reported. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### Get the Account’s Agreement and Preserve the Correct Version

Amazon's public deactivation policy directs drivers to the app's legal-information area to view the Independent Contractor Terms of Service. This review did not authenticate the full current U.S. agreement accepted by a California driver. Business and Professions Code section 7452 requires a written agreement before platform access, specified contractual grounds for termination and an appeals process. Section 7451's independent-contractor rule is conditional on the statutory relationship, including provisions about scheduling, accepting requests and other work. A public program policy is useful evidence of a stated standard, but it is not the complete agreement or an insurance policy. Preserve your accepted version, addenda and change notices for the relevant date.

### Mileage and the Earnings Guarantee Are Not Loss Insurance

Amazon's California page states a 2026 vehicle-expense contribution of $0.37 per engaged mile and a pre-tip earnings guarantee based on 120% of the applicable minimum wage, assessed over a 14-day period. Section 7453 supplies the earnings-floor framework and annual mileage-adjustment mechanism. These payments compensate specified delivery activity; they are not a collision deductible fund, auto-policy limit or payment for every hour the car is unavailable. Keep mileage and time receipts for the relevant period and ask about a missing adjustment through Amazon's process. A trip can raise an earnings-calculation issue separately from whether an auto or occupational insurer covers an accident.

## California Occupational Injury Benefits

### Amazon Names Homeland for Its California Injury Summary

For package pickups originating in California, Amazon's benefits page describes occupational accident cover for on-the-job injuries, underwritten by Homeland Insurance Company of New York. It lists medical expenses up to $1 million, specified disability payments, burial expenses up to $10,000 and accidental-death benefits for qualifying dependents. The page expressly makes those descriptions subject to the actual policy, which controls a conflict. Do not transfer Homeland's name to the auto program, whose California insurer is not established by the reviewed public pages. Likewise, a pickup-origin description is not proof of the treatment of every cross-border route or accident. Obtain the actual injury policy and the insured-person, activity, territory and claim provisions.

### The Statute Separately Requires Medical and Disability Benefits

Section 7455(a) requires occupational accident protection for covered app-based drivers' injuries while online, with medical expenses up to at least $1 million and disability payments at 66% of average weekly earnings from all network companies, subject to specified minimum and maximum weekly rates. It defines the earnings reference as the preceding 28 days divided by four and refers to up to the first 104 weeks following injury. These are minimum legal requirements with their own scope. Amazon's shorter statement about on-the-job deliveries should not erase the Act's online definition, nor should a statutory minimum be presented as a complete issued contract or a finding that every claimed injury qualifies.

### Use the Injury Year and All-network Earnings

Amazon's summary includes tips and earnings from the covered delivery and transportation companies in its disability description. The Act uses all-network earnings and references Labor Code section 4453(a) for minimum and maximum weekly payment rates. DWC's dated 2026 announcement gives temporary total disability reference rates of $264.61 to $1,764.11 per week, effective January 1, 2026. Those reference amounts do not establish an individual's payment without the covered injury, earnings evidence and applicable policy calculation. Keep statements from every relevant network for the statutory reference period and ask how tips, the injury date, the percentage and the rate limits were used. Do not carry a figure from an older explanation into a current injury calculation.

### Online Time, Personal Activity and Another App Need Separate Facts

For this protection, section 7455(c) defines online to include being able to receive service requests as well as engaged time. Subsection (d) says the required occupational and death protection need not cover an accident outside engaged time when the driver is personally occupied or engaged on another network. It also provides contribution rules where multiple companies' occupational policies cover the accident. Keep every relevant app's status, accepted request and actual activity. A phone being logged in does not resolve a personal errand, while an insurer cannot be identified solely from which icon was open. This statutory discussion does not authenticate Amazon's precise definition of an insured accident or resolve an individual's competing claims.

### Burial and Dependent Death Benefits Are Different

Amazon's page describes burial expenses up to $10,000 and separate accidental-death protection for a spouse, children or specified dependents. Section 7455(b) incorporates Labor Code sections 4701 and 4702 for burial and death benefits. Those statutes contain injury-date and dependency rules; section 4702 includes different totals and additional dependent-child provisions. Do not turn the burial headline into a single death-benefit cap or promise the same amount to every family. A dependent claim needs the actual policy, covered-accident evidence, relationship and dependency records and the relevant statutory calculation. Keep this protection separate from liability owed to third parties and the driver's ordinary health insurance.

### Occupational Cover Is Not Ordinary Health or a Status Decision

CDI's February 3, 2021 implementation notice explains how the required medical and lost-income benefits fall within disability-insurance categories and discusses ways compliant arrangements may be provided. It is a historical regulatory explanation, not Amazon's issued policy or a current carrier certificate. Use current section 7455 for the delivery-liability requirement because the notice's older liability cross-reference differs. Section 7451 separately makes the independent-contractor classification conditional; the presence of occupational cover does not decide a disputed employment relationship. Ask which product, insurer and benefit is involved before applying a claims rule. Ordinary illness, general health-plan enrollment, a covered work injury and a car-repair claim are distinct questions.

## The California Health Subsidy

### Hours Are Measured for Amazon’s Calendar Quarter

Amazon says a California partner averaging at least 15 but fewer than 25 engaged hours a week in a calendar quarter can qualify for a partial healthcare subsidy; 25 or more hours can qualify for the full tier. It directs partners to the Healthcare Subsidy area in the app to check eligibility. Section 7454 measures hours on each network company's platform and does not prohibit receiving subsidies from more than one qualifying company. Adding ten Amazon hours to another app's ten hours does not establish the 15-hour Amazon tier. Keep the quarterly engaged-time receipts and ask how a disputed scheduled block or instant offer was counted under the relevant definition.

Evidence: Company-reported. Scope: California Amazon Flex delivery with an ordinary owned eligible car unless another category is expressly discussed. Official public rules and statutes; actual current auto policy, occupational policy and accepted driver agreement not authenticated. No individual insurance determination. Checked 2026-10-27.

### The Posted Partial Amount and Formula Need Qualification

Amazon's current page posts 2026 quarterly amounts of $867 for the partial tier and $1,737 for the full tier. Covered California's June 10, 2026 guide gives a $706 average monthly bronze premium and rounded monthly illustrations of $289 and $579. Sections 7454 and 7463 use a contribution of 82% of the reference premium: multiplying the unrounded reference by three months produces $868.38 for the partial tier and $1,736.76 for the full tier. The posted partial amount therefore differs from that direct calculation. This comparison does not establish what Amazon actually paid or a violation. Ask Amazon for the applicable calculation and retain its response and payment record instead of silently treating the figures as identical.

### The Plan Must Meet the Qualifying Subscriber Rules

Amazon requires the partner to be the primary subscriber on an eligible plan and excludes coverage made available by an employer or spouse's employer, Medicare and Medicaid. Section 7463's qualifying-plan definition and Covered California's current guide provide the legal and enrollment context. The guide discusses individual-market coverage, including eligible minimum-coverage plans, and distinguishes the network-company stipend from financial help for eligible Covered California enrollment. The stipend is not automatic enrollment in a medical plan, comprehensive accident cover or payment of every premium. Confirm the actual plan, subscriber and quarter before relying on the subsidy, and keep the enrollment evidence current when coverage changes.

### Keep the Proof and Use Amazon’s Own Submission Route

Amazon accepts examples such as a member card, insurer eligibility letter or Covered California dashboard evidence. It asks for the insurance company, the partner as primary subscriber and the coverage period's start and end dates. Covered California's October 1, 2026 guide explains generating a quarterly proof-of-coverage PDF and its optional data-sharing process. Its discussion of a sharing arrangement with DoorDash is not proof of automatic sharing with Amazon. Use Amazon's actual Healthcare Subsidy process and retain the document and submission receipt. A valid health plan and a complete, accepted subsidy request are separate facts; neither should be inferred from a driver's delivery-account approval.

### Amazon Publishes Month-long Request Windows

Amazon accepts requests for the January–March quarter from April 1–30, April–June from July 1–31, July–September from October 1–31, and October–December from January 1–31 of the following year. Those are Amazon's published windows; do not import another app's fifteenth-day cutoff. Section 7454(d) separately allows at least 15 calendar days for enrollment proof and requires a subsidy that is due within 15 days after quarter-end or proof submission, whichever is later. Amazon says a complete accepted request is paid to the bank account associated with the Flex account. Keep submission, acceptance and payment dates, and ask about a delay without treating the request window as a replacement for the statutory payment rule.

### Take Stipend and Health-enrollment Disputes to the Correct Place

Covered California's guide directs stipend eligibility, amount and stipend appeals back to the network company. Covered California handles its own health-enrollment and eligibility issues. For an Amazon subsidy question, assemble the actual quarter's receipts, average engaged hours, qualifying-plan proof, submission acknowledgment and amount calculation, including the posted-amount discrepancy if relevant. Ask Amazon to identify what is missing or disputed. A subsidy issue is not automatically an auto-insurer complaint or an occupational medical claim. Keep health and bank documents in the appropriate official private process. The public Spot checker supplies questions and research; it does not need these sensitive records to explain the published rules.

## Accident Reports, Insurance Claims and Disputes

### Report the Accident and the Injury to the Right Channels

Amazon's safety page directs emergency assistance through the app and says to contact emergency services first when needed. Its California page routes an occupational injury report through Emergency Help or the published Emergency Helpline and asks for the accident's date, time, place, description, injury details and relevant police or medical records. That is the injury route; it does not authenticate every auto carrier's claim requirements. Notify your own insurer and ask Amazon how to open the applicable auto claim too. Obtain acknowledgments and the actual notice and proof deadlines for each product. A support conversation does not show that every insurer has a complete claim or that an insurance deadline has been preserved.

### Preserve the Timeline That Distinguishes the Coverage Questions

CDI's accident guide recommends obtaining the parties' insurance information, witnesses and safe scene evidence. For Amazon Flex, add the reservation or instant offer, station check-in, Amazon-caused delay, pickup origin, route, final delivery, cancellation and package-return scans. Preserve other apps' requests and any personal activity around the incident. Ask the insurer which timestamp and activity definition it used; a later app screenshot may not establish the status at impact. Keep vehicle estimates, medical records and all-network earnings evidence where relevant. Amazon's program standards also require prompt notice of a circumstance impairing safe delivery. Account standing, an operational return instruction and an insurance decision each require their own evidence and review.

### The DMV Report Is Separate From the App and Insurers

Vehicle Code section 16000 generally requires a DMV report within ten days when an accident involves injury, death or property damage exceeding $1,000 to any one person's property, subject to statutory exceptions. DMV's current SR1 instructions state that the report is required regardless of fault and that police or insurer reports do not replace it. Keep the appropriate insurance and vehicle information and a copy of the filed report. An Amazon support report or occupational claim is not the SR1. The practical result is several potentially separate tasks after a delivery collision, with different recipients and deadlines. Follow the official instructions for the actual event rather than assuming one submission satisfies them all.

### Do Not Assume a Routine Report Preserves Uninsured Rights

Insurance Code section 11580.2(i) contains specific procedures and time conditions for specified uninsured-motorist claims, with different routes involving legal action, agreement or arbitration steps. Other provisions address underinsured or unidentified vehicles. An Amazon report, DMV filing or insurer acknowledgment should not be assumed to preserve every separate right. If a potentially uninsured driver caused injury, obtain prompt advice on the actual facts, policy and required procedure rather than waiting for a platform review to conclude. Keep all correspondence and ask the carrier to identify the applicable provision. This guide does not calculate an individual's filing deadline or establish a UM benefit solely because the accident occurred during a block.

### Ask the Insurer for the Policy Basis and Outstanding Evidence

California claims regulations section 2695.5 addresses communications, acknowledgment and investigation, including specified 15-calendar-day duties with conditions. Section 2695.7 addresses acceptance or denial after proof, continuing notices and explanations of the factual and policy grounds. Its 40-day framework has exceptions, including specified disability and repair-bill claims, so it is not a universal payment promise for every benefit discussed here. Track the dates of notice, proof and requests and ask what remains necessary. If delivery use, the driver or a period is excluded, request the exact clause and its application. Distinguish an insurer's written position from app support so a challenge addresses the actual decision.

### Check Repair Estimates, Total-loss Value and Recovery

For automobile claims, section 2695.8 addresses comparable-car total-loss valuations, itemized adjustments, taxes and fees, repairs and specified towing or storage. Its conditional reopening procedure includes notice within 35 calendar days after payment or a final offer when a comparable vehicle cannot be bought for the gross settlement amount, with detailed qualifications. Compare the actual model, condition, mileage, options and supporting listings. Section 2695.7 separately addresses specified deductible recovery through subrogation. Keep estimates, supplements and receipts so the disputed amount can be identified. These standards do not create delivery coverage where the actual policy excludes it; first establish which insurer and coverage are responsible, then review the amount.

### Use the Claims Standards for the Actual Injury Product

CDI's Proposition 22 notice explains the disability-insurance classification of required occupational benefits. Claims regulation section 2695.11 adds standards for applicable life and disability claims, including explanations of benefits, specified overpayment protections and preauthorization provisions. It bars making emergency medical services subject to preauthorization and contains a contested-claim rule for a specified statutory category. Do not apply an auto property-claim timetable to every treatment or wage-benefit issue. Ask the injury insurer for the medical-expense decision, earnings calculation, offset and policy provision involved. Amazon's benefits summary identifies Homeland for this program, but the actual policy is still needed to resolve the specific condition, benefit period and appeal route.

### Build a Focused File for an Unresolved Insurance Dispute

CDI's nonhealth Request for Assistance asks for insurer, policy and claim identifiers, a clear account of the problem, the requested resolution and supporting records. For a Flex insurance issue, include the insurer's position, applicable policy wording, delivery timeline and disputed estimate or benefit calculation. Its instructions explain that active litigation can cause CDI to defer regulatory investigation. A complaint does not guarantee payment, replace a lawsuit or preserve every other deadline. Keep Amazon's health-subsidy process and any contractual account appeal separate from the insurance issue. Use the appropriate private official channel for medical and claim documents, and retain a copy of what was sent and the response.
