Your Spot team checks what it asks for. - **Add what the event needs.** If you’re serving alcohol or the venue wants to be an additional insured, we work with your broker to get the cover and endorsements in place. - **Generate the certificate.** Create it in the Spot app with the venue as certificate holder and the event in the description, and send it before their deadline. ## What your certificate needs to show - **General liability.** For injuries to guests and damage to the venue during the event, set-up and teardown. - **Liquor liability.** If you or your caterer will sell, serve or furnish alcohol. - **The venue as additional insured.** Usually the venue, its owner and its management company, named as the agreement names them. - **Event name and dates.** The event, its dates and the room or area you’re using, in the certificate’s description. - **Staff and vehicles on site.** Workers’ compensation for your staff on site and auto for vehicles used at load-in, if the venue asks. ## Endorsements to check - **Additional insured.** Extends your liability coverage to the venue for claims arising from your event, on the endorsement’s terms. Listing the venue on the certificate alone doesn’t. - **Primary and non-contributory.** Some venues want your policy to respond before theirs. That wording must be endorsed onto your policy, which your Spot team requests through your broker and insurer. ## Generate your certificate in Spot - **Choose the policies for the event.** Pick general liability and any liquor, auto or workers’ comp the venue requires. - **Add the venue’s name and address.** Enter the venue and its management company exactly as the agreement shows them. - **Describe the event.** Add the event name, dates and space, or upload the venue’s request so its wording carries over. - **Review and send.** Check the dates fall inside your policy period, then send the certificate to the venue’s events team. ## Mistakes to avoid - **Assuming general liability covers alcohol.** If you serve drinks, the venue may require liquor liability, and an occasional party and a bar operation can need different cover. - **Naming only the venue.** Venues are often owned by one company and run by another. The agreement tells you who to list. - **Sending it at the last minute.** Venues set certificate deadlines before load-in. Endorsements take time to add, so send the request as soon as you sign. Yes. Spot customers create certificates in the Spot app from their policies, so you can send one when the venue asks. ### Do I need liquor liability for an event? If you sell, serve or furnish alcohol, the venue may require it, and your general liability may not cover those claims. Your Spot team checks your policies and the venue’s terms. ### Is a certificate enough to make the venue an additional insured? No. The endorsement on your policy does that, and the certificate only shows it. Your Spot team requests the endorsement through your broker and insurer. ### Will Spot replace our broker?
