# About Spot

Spot is a commercial-insurance service that combines AI software with a human insurance team to help startups and growing companies with 25 to 200 employees buy the right coverage, meet insurance requirements, and manage renewals for a flat monthly fee.

Spot is the first product from Tools for Enlightenment, an applied AI company that helps businesses save money on the financial products they depend on.

## What Spot does

### Insurance buying and renewals

Your Spot team prepares your submission, works with your current broker or alternatives, and helps you weigh proposals before you buy or renew. You see where you’re overpaying and where you’re exposed, and your company makes the final decision.

### Customer, lender, and landlord requirements

Spot checks an insurance requirement against the policies you already have and flags gaps or missing information. It then helps prepare certificates from finalized policy documents, so a new contract or lease isn’t held up by insurance.

### Ongoing policy management

Your policies, company details, and supporting documents stay together in one workspace. Stable company facts and prior submissions are reused, and open requests are tracked, so the next request doesn’t start from scratch.

### Policy answers from the Spot agent

Ask the Spot agent a policy question and see the policy wording behind its answer. It works alongside your human Spot team through your enabled channels.

## What makes Spot different

### No commissions on insurance premiums

Spot charges a flat monthly fee and takes no commission on the policies you buy, so its pay doesn’t rise with your premium. Commission-based brokers are usually paid a share of the premium, which rewards a bigger policy rather than a better one.

### Published, predictable pricing

Spot publishes 4 fee tiers, from free under $10,000 of annual insurance spend to more than $750 per month above $200,000. The fee is billed monthly and locked for 12 months regardless of growth. You know the fee before your first conversation.

### Savings measured against your current program

Spot customers save over 20% on average, and up to 40%, by finding where they’re overpaying or undercovered before they buy or renew. Savings depend on your company and the market, so a consultation doesn’t guarantee them.

### Keep your broker or switch

Spot can coordinate your current broker or help you evaluate alternatives, so you don’t have to change brokers to use it. Signing up doesn’t commit you to a purchase or a broker change.

### A human team with source-backed software

A human Spot team works with you in a shared Slack channel, while the Spot agent shows the policy wording behind each answer. Certificates are prepared only from finalized policies, never from a summary.

## Who uses Spot

- Startups and growing companies with 25 to 200 employees and no in-house insurance or risk team.
- Founders handling their company’s first commercial insurance purchase or renewal.
- Finance and operations leads who manage renewals, policy questions, and proof of insurance.
- Companies that need to meet an enterprise customer’s, lender’s, or landlord’s insurance requirements.
- Companies spending from under $10,000 to more than $200,000 a year on commercial insurance.

## The team behind Spot

### Founders

Adyan Tanver and Terry Wang co-founded Tools for Enlightenment, the company that builds Spot.

### Origin

Tools for Enlightenment set out to make expert financial-product advice and management accessible to more businesses. Commercial insurance came first because it’s hard to understand and time-consuming to manage without an in-house specialist. The company was previously called Clarity Labs.

### Team

Spot pairs a human insurance team with AI software. The team prepares submissions, coordinates brokers, and reviews proposals, while the software keeps your facts, documents, and requests together.

## How Spot works

### Onboarding

Create your account, add your company and submit your first insurance request online. Your Spot team helps with the insurance work from there.

### Who you work with

You work directly with your human Spot team, who prepare submissions, coordinate brokers, and review proposals with you. The Spot agent handles policy questions and paperwork between conversations.

### Communication

Message your Spot team in a shared Slack channel, and ask the Spot agent through your enabled channels. For general inquiries, email hello@toolsforenlightenment.org.

### Decisions

Your company decides what to buy or change. Spot doesn’t automatically bind insurance, and it isn’t an insurance carrier.
